it is the size of a pillbox, silver, and has enamel picture of a lady, possibly asia, persian or from india.

    I don’t think it will have a practical use. Sounds more like a love token to me. If the stone is a natural one such as marble, agate, jade or whatever, then it might be used for traditional healing or spells, but I don’t have reference material. If it is a love token, then the stone might be linked to the heart and its functions.
